Steering wheel measurements are important in vehicle testing. Steering state and parameters also contribute to the evaluation of many whole-vehicle performance tests. A torque and angle instrument records these quantities in real time.
Instrument structure
The instrument consists of an operating wheel, main unit, connecting fork and positioning rod. The operating wheel is screwed to the base, which connects through a torque sensor to four adjustable clamps on the fork. The central main unit contains the torque sensor, angle sensor and display circuit board. A positioning rod extends from the panel centre and is secured to the vehicle by a magnetic mount.
Installation
- Secure the instrument reliably to the vehicle's steering wheel before measurement.
- Loosen the fixing screws on the fork and four telescopic clamps. Open the clamps, fit them around the steering wheel and tighten them.
- Adjust all four clamps so the instrument centre coincides with the steering wheel centre.
- Tighten the clamp screws and turn the operating wheel repeatedly to confirm that the connection is firm and the centres remain aligned.
- Adjust the positioning rod length and fasten it to the magnetic base on the dashboard or door frame.
Installation is then complete. Luoyang Naiou Electric's steering instruments support continuous recording, waveform display and online printing. A dual-pulse signal provides resistance to signal jitter; a GPS speed sensor can be connected for simultaneous speed and distance measurement.
